About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out engineering maintenance work on all electrical services, systems, plant, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive work on electrical systems, including fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Work on a wide range of hospital electrical systems, including electrical installations, emergency generators, control systems, and more.
  • Manufacture, assemble, erect, and install new installation work to a recognised standard.
  • Perform a wide range of work of other trades, including repairs, maintenance, and efficient running of engineering plant and equipment.
  • Use all relevant test equipment, tools, and equipment.
  • Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings and wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Plan and manage the working day based on work orders issued by supervisor.
  • Carry out work in accordance with health and safety requirements, Trust policies, procedures, and regulations.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Proven electrical technical ability.
  • Sound proven knowledge of trade principles and practice.
  • Demonstrable experience of reading and implementing engineering drawings.

Desirable

  • Understanding of other building services and trades.
  • Willingness to work towards Specialist Grade with relevant training.
  • Proven working knowledge of computerised building management system.

Qualifications

Essential

  • City & Guilds Electrical Craft certificate or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 17th Edition BS 7671:2008 Electrical Regulations.

Desirable

  • C&G Electrical Inspection and testing of installations.
  • Electronics BTEC Relevant Health & Safety qualification or equivalent.
