Job Purpose:

To serve as the Ofsted registered Responsible Individual for designated homes, ensuring compliance with legislation and providing effective leadership and management of SuperCare residential services for children and young people.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and establish provision for care, accommodation, and support through partnerships and collaborations.
  • Ensure effective management of resource allocation, placement matching, and placement stability, supporting corporate parenting.
  • Provide a comprehensive placement service, managing admissions to residential establishments in partnership with Local Authorities and other agencies.
  • Monitor care plans, placement plans, activities, and community involvement, providing oversight of individual care planning for all young people looked after in designated homes.
  • Report regularly on each home to ensure compliance with statute, Ofsted, and SuperCare policies, guidelines, and instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations and National Minimum Standards, including monitoring of Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 inspections.
  • Prepare homes for regular Ofsted inspections.
  • Provide regular formal and informal supervision and management of managers, encouraging professional development and completing training and staff development needs.
  • Manage and prioritize resources in the homes, including approval of rotas and hours used, authorization of overtime, staffing, financial oversight, administrative matters, standards of accommodation, fire precautions, and health and safety.
  • Ensure financial budgets comply with the Children's Homes regulations, National Minimum Standards, and Ofsted's inspection frameworks.
  • Ensure children and young people in the Home/s are effectively safeguarded.
  • Promote a high standard of professional practice through personal example, encouraging appropriate professional training and development.
  • Ensure electronic and paper administration systems are current and appropriate, with accurate recorded information and timely data provided by registered managers.
  • Promote and maintain a healthy and safe environment for all residential staff teams.
  • Appoint/assist in appointing staff, ensuring proper application of safer recruitment and selection procedures and managing and overseeing the induction, discipline, capability, and grievance procedures.
  • Contribute to and/or participate in projects and initiatives associated with their area of service delivery and others as required.
  • Ensure young people's needs are met through a strong emphasis on communication and participation.
