Job Role: Teaching Assistant (Grade 4)
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time, 33 hours per week, term time only plus 5 inset days
About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support our educational team in fostering a positive learning environment for children with special educational needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, and be able to adapt their approach to meet the needs of each student.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a teacher to support the academic and personal development of children throughout the school day. This will include assisting with lesson planning, delivering engaging activities, and providing individual support to students as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities tailored to the needs of each student.
- Support children with special educational needs, ensuring they receive appropriate care and attention.
- Help manage classroom behaviour by implementing strategies that promote positive interactions among students.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop individual education plans for students requiring additional support.
- Observe and document student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team on their development.
- Maintain a clean and organised classroom environment conducive to learning.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in an educational or care setting
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) is highly desirable
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
