An exceptional opportunity is available for a Consultant Physician to enhance our middle-grade rota and bolster our Obstetric & Gynaecology services. We aim to fortify our specialized offerings in high-risk obstetrics, fetal medicine, and maternal health, adhering to national guidelines. Additionally, we seek to expand our gynecological services, including urogynaecology and rapid access initiatives.
About the Trust
The Trust operates two major hospitals and caters to a community of approximately 500,000 residents. We also oversee a cancer center, providing comprehensive care across various specialties.
The delivery suite is located at one of our main hospitals, complemented by Birth Centres nearby. Our facilities collectively manage around 5,900 births annually, with gynecological inpatients and emergencies primarily handled at our main site.

- Deliver high-quality care to all patients under your clinical oversight, including those referred to you and those managed by your team.
- Engage in clinical activities and service enhancements to maintain exceptional patient care standards.
- Collaborate closely with medical, professional, and managerial colleagues to ensure the delivery of superior healthcare services.
Professional Development
This role is ideal for those seeking to deepen their expertise in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. You will join a dedicated team of registrar-level doctors operating on a full shift system, with a typical week encompassing clinics, theatre lists, and emergency cover.
Regular opportunities for participation in teaching sessions and clinical governance meetings will be available.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- MB BS (or equivalent)
- MRCOG part 1
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- Completion of pre-registration year or equivalent
- Proven competence in operative vaginal delivery, uncomplicated Caesarean section, and other specified procedures.
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications such as ATLS/ACLS/RCOG Part 2/ALS
- Experience in laparoscopic management of ectopic pregnancy
Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the specialty
Desirable:
- Evidence of interest in Obstetrics & Gynaecology through audits or quality improvement projects
