About the Role
SSEN Transmission, a leading energy company, is seeking a highly skilled Substation Principal Engineer to join our Policy & Standards team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our transmission network.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and guidance notes for substation design, including FACTS/HVDC systems and interfaces to LV and MV systems.
- Review and update existing specifications to incorporate lessons learned from projects and emerging technologies.
- Provide technical guidance and advice to the Transmission business on new plant and replacement, and to Operations on equipment capability or fault investigations.
- Represent SSEN Transmission at industry events and conferences, promoting our expertise and contributing to the development of industry standards.
Requirements
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Demonstrable experience in the design, specification, and application of transmission voltage substations.
- Strong technical knowledge of transmission network design, planning, operation, and development, including National Grid, British, and European Standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
