Job Overview

As a Program Leader, you will oversee redevelopment initiatives in alignment with Trust protocols and industry best practices. Your responsibilities will include crafting project strategies and tracking progress against established milestones, utilizing RAG status assessments based on comprehensive data analysis. You will identify options to resolve challenges and escalate complex matters to the Senior Leadership Team as necessary.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Redevelopment Team, General Managers, Divisional leaders, and other appointed stakeholders. Additionally, you will engage with design teams, various estates personnel, CAD technicians, external professional organizations, design consultants, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

You will be tasked with recognizing and managing project risks, issues, decisions, and actions; coordinating project risk documentation and regular updates, ensuring these are recorded on Datix and discussed at relevant Executive meetings. You will also report on progress through personal representation, deliver presentations as needed, and prepare Board papers for the appropriate forums.

Your role will involve contributing to the development, monitoring, and evaluation of Trust policies and standards concerning planning, design, construction, procurement strategies, and performance metrics. You will oversee the transition of services into newly constructed or refurbished healthcare facilities, ensuring seamless integration of all medical, paramedical, ancillary, and facilities management contractors. Additionally, you will assist in procuring service infrastructure assessments for designated areas and evaluate existing engineering and structural documentation.

You will ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budgetary constraints.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field, or a minimum of 2-3 years of equivalent experience in healthcare project management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in numerical or technical subjects at GCSE or 'A' level.
  • Strong understanding and experience with MS Projects.
  • Proficient in Excel with advanced spreadsheet capabilities.

Desirable

  • Foundation-level project management certification, such as Prince 2 or MSP.
  • Membership in a professional institution like RICS or CIBSE, or progress towards this.

Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of practical experience in project management within a relevant healthcare environment.
  • Experience managing small teams, contractors, and professionals.
  • Supplier contract management experience, including goods and services.
  • Experience in procurement management, encompassing goods and services.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Essential

  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • High level of IT literacy, with demonstrable spreadsheet skills for comprehensive project financial reporting.
