Job Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and provide clinical leadership to our multidisciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to the PICU team and contribute to the development of our adult acute mental health services.
  • Work closely with the Ward Manager and other senior leaders to shape the service and build a high-performing team.
  • Lead by example, acting as a role model within the multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest level of clinical standards.
  • Ensure the team provides safe, effective, and therapeutic care within a specialist newly purpose-built ward environment.
  • Collaborate with the MDT to create an environment where service users' cultures, life experiences, and strengths are acknowledged and valued to promote their recovery.
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a valid license.
  • Approved clinician status.
  • Excellent knowledge of the specialty.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to meet duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Ability to work in and lead a team.
  • Participated in research and service provision.
