Start Date: Immediate availability preferred
The Chace People team is in search of a seasoned Gallery Operations Manager to lead the operational aspects of a new, not-for-profit art space. This venue is poised to present a diverse array of exhibitions and events throughout the year, with plans for growth and development.
This role encompasses the establishment and management of the gallery's operational framework, financial planning, and oversight of all elements related to building management, exhibition curation, and artist residency programs, alongside the welfare of the team. The Gallery Operations Manager will also be accountable for the upkeep and functionality of both the gallery and the associated administrative facilities.
This position collaborates closely with the Founding Director's broader team to ensure alignment and coherence across related initiatives. Acting as a vital partner to the Head of Programmes, this role will coordinate with a network of vendors, suppliers, and art collaborators to ensure seamless operations and the effective implementation of organizational protocols.
This role reports directly to the Director (Founder).
Qualifications:- A minimum of 5 years of successful senior-level management experience in art galleries or similar projects
- Background in art galleries or cultural institutions
- Experience in charitable organizations and foundations is advantageous
- Proficient in liaising with artists, logistics providers, art installers, architects, financial advisors, and legal professionals
- Demonstrated operational management expertise
- Strong grasp of legal and human resources considerations in a gallery context
- Exceptional interpersonal and team leadership abilities
- Capability to manage building operations and renovation initiatives
- Knowledgeable in exhibition planning and event coordination
- Familiarity with operations in the not-for-profit sector
- Proficient in Art Logic and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Zero is a plus
- Oversee the infrastructure setup during the renovation phase
- Ensure the building meets operational requirements
- Manage legal and HR responsibilities associated with the gallery
- Formulate and implement policies for the gallery
- Supervise on-site personnel and promote effective teamwork
- Oversee financial planning for installations, maintenance, and de-installation of exhibitions annually, including occasional site-specific projects
- Collaborate with the Exhibition team to develop and manage budgets for all exhibitions
- Coordinate the contributions of third-party vendors
This position is full-time, Monday to Friday, and may necessitate occasional work outside standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and potential international travel. The salary and benefits package will be aligned with the candidate's experience.
