Ilford, Greater London, United Kingdom Barnardos Full time

Position Overview: This role presents a unique opportunity to play a vital part in the mission of the National FGM Centre. With a comprehensive remit across the UK, you will spearhead initiatives that align with the objectives of the Centre.

About the National FGM Centre: The Centre collaborates with professionals and community members to raise awareness and prevent Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), breast flattening, and child abuse associated with faith or belief (CALFB), along with other harmful practices. Established in 2015, our goal is to drive systemic change in the services provided to children and families impacted by FGM. In 2017, our focus expanded to encompass Breast Flattening and Child Abuse Linked to Faith or Belief, aiming to prevent new cases, safeguard children and young people, support those affected, and collaborate to deliver services and insights.

Funding and Development: As part of our strategy to broaden our outreach, the Centre has applied for the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) grant from the Home Office. This funding will facilitate the creation of a Harmful Practices Network, with the NFGMC leading a consortium of grassroots organizations throughout the UK.

Qualifications: As a qualified social worker, you will possess significant post-qualification experience handling a diverse array of cases, from early intervention to complex child protection scenarios. Your background should include experience in a multi-agency setting, managing various cases such as child protection assessments and legal proceedings. Specialized training will be provided to enhance your expertise.

Key Responsibilities: In this role, you will contribute to the Harmful Practices Support Hub, a distinctive virtual platform designed for professionals and victims/survivors/witnesses. You will offer expert advice, guidance, and referrals to specialized programs within the Network. Additionally, you will deliver training sessions and may conduct child protection risk assessments.

Benefits of Working with Barnardo's: Employees enjoy a wide range of benefits, including a salary exchange pension scheme, an Employee Assistance Programme, Childcare Vouchers, Cycle to Work schemes, and discounts on various services such as RAC membership, holidays, and cinema tickets.

Important Note: Applicants must be registered with Social Work England.

Contract Status: While this position is permanent, it is subject to funding availability. Should funding not be extended, you may face redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.

Workplace Flexibility: Barnardo's is committed to fostering equality of opportunity and supporting work-life balance. We offer flexible working arrangements to accommodate the diverse needs of our employees.
