We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a prominent main contractor based in Aberdeen, Scotland. The successful candidate will become an integral part of our expanding power division, collaborating with esteemed clients such as Scottish Power, National Grid, and SSE on projects ranging from substation construction and refurbishment to high voltage overhead powerline upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Supervise and manage all financial aspects of projects, including the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
  • Financial Reporting: Deliver precise and timely financial reports, encompassing cost forecasts, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Contract Administration: Effectively manage contracts, ensuring adherence to terms and conditions while addressing any variations or changes.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential financial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Negotiate and oversee contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring value for money and quality deliverables.
  • Client Liaison: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and ensuring satisfaction with project outcomes.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in quantity surveying, particularly in infrastructure projects.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Professional membership with RICS or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, cost management software).
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
