About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic midwife to join our Maternity Education Team as the Practice Development Midwife (PDM) at University Hospital Lewisham. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering specialist midwifery training to our midwives and support workers, ensuring that our maternity services remain safe and of the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive training program for midwives, incorporating evidence-based practice and national standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to organize joint obstetric emergency study days and ensure seamless communication.
  • Support the Senior Midwifery team in coordinating an environment of lifelong learning for midwives and support staff, promoting staff awareness of national agendas and influencing midwifery services.
  • Lead the teaching programs for midwives, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care.
  • Work closely with the Clinical Practice Facilitator (CPF) to ensure that midwives are up-to-date with required mandatory, statutory, and professional training.
Person Specification
  • Registered Midwife with a minimum of five years post-qualification experience.
  • Excellent clinical record, with evidence of delivering teaching programs to staff/student groups.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work in a highly demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement audit/research recommendations and evidence of continued leadership development.
