Position: Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer


A distinguished firm operating within the global financial sector is in search of a proficient Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to become part of their innovative team.

In this role, you will spearhead various engineering initiatives, focusing on the implementation of public cloud infrastructure and the seamless integration of applications with cloud services.

This position is offered as a contract with a competitive daily rate.


Company Overview:


The organisation provides comprehensive backend and frontend solutions to trading desks and enterprise clients across significant financial centers.

As they expand their workforce, they are looking for a Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to bolster their platform's scalability and deliver effective technological solutions.


Key Responsibilities:


- Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, and third-party cloud service providers to integrate public cloud infrastructure and services into the organisation.

- Work closely with the Cloud Security team to ensure timely assessments of public cloud services, prioritising business needs.

- Partner with various departments to ensure smooth integration and alignment with business and technological objectives.

- Identify and define system enhancements to optimise existing processes and architecture.

- Provide expertise in DevOps engineering, adhering to best practices and the organisation's strategic technology roadmap.

- Conduct troubleshooting tasks, collaborating with clients and production support to resolve production stability challenges.

- Employ analytical thinking to deliver comprehensive analysis and innovative solutions.

- Act as a mentor to mid-level engineers and analysts, delegating tasks as necessary.

- Make informed business decisions, considering risks and safeguarding the organisation's reputation, clients, and assets.


Essential Experience and Attributes:

- Proven track record in developing DevOps solutions within enterprise container platforms, including public cloud Kubernetes Services or on-premises solutions.

- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in microservice architecture and container technologies such as Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes.

- Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes-related technologies and tools including S3, EFS, Lustre FSx, Kubernetes cluster autoscaler, Karpenter, and KEDA.

- Proficiency in tools like Terraform, Helm, kubectl, and HashiCorp Vault.

- Strong understanding of vulnerability management and security practices for applications and services in the public cloud.

- Experience in Investment Banking/High-Performance Compute platforms.

- Familiarity with Java programming and the Spring framework is advantageous.

- Understanding of agile software development methodologies and proficiency in developer tools such as GitHub, Bitbucket, JIRA, Artifactory, and Jenkins.

- In-depth experience in analysing application metrics using observability tools like Splunk, Elasticsearch, and Grafana is highly desirable.

- Adaptability to rapidly evolving technologies and shifting priorities.

- Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Educational Background:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.

- A Master's degree in an engineering or science discipline is preferred.
