About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Team Manager to join our team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust. As a Clinical Team Manager, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day operational management of the provision of care and treatment within the neurodiversity clinical pathway.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide effective collaborative leadership and day-to-day operational management of the clinical team.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of evidence-based clinical care, including triage, assessment, clinical formulation, and care planning, treatment, and discharge of children and young people.
  • Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with other clinical pathways within the locality, health specialties, and partner organizations across health, education, social care, and the voluntary sector.
  • Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with children, young people, and their parents/carers, ensuring their active participation is facilitated and feedback elicited, considered, and acted upon.
  • Identify and manage clinical and non-clinical risks within the pathway, in partnership with the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain systems designed to monitor demand and maintain optimal clinical capacity within the team.
  • Ensure data is captured and used to drive effective service delivery and improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with other leaders to maintain a culture within the service of excellence in clinical standards and safety.
  • Work with other Team Managers across the multi-agency system of children's services in the locality to ensure the clinical pathway is delivered as part of an integrated system of care, to improve health outcomes for children and young people.
  • Ensure clinical provision in the pathway is delivered to meet key performance targets.
  • Ensure robust financial management of the team's activities.
  • Provide supervision, operational management, and support to clinicians, demonstrating compassionate leadership, understanding and following HR policies and procedures, ensuring staff wellbeing and development, and adopting a collaborative approach to engage staff with a range of skills and communication needs.
  • Attend, participate, and chair relevant meetings, presenting information in a range of formats, adapting communication to meet the needs of others.
  • Deputise for the Operations Manager as required.
Person Specification
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies.
  • Experience of delivering a clinical practice within the area of specialty for children with complex health conditions, undertaking specialist assessment and treatment interventions for children and young people with complex health problems.
  • Experience of supervising others and developing positive supervisory relationships with healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in managing HR and recruitment processes, including staff appraisals, performance, and sickness management.
  • Experience of delivering healthcare within an equalities and human rights framework.
  • Experience of initiating, organizing, and planning inter-agency meetings aimed at setting in place a treatment package tailored to the individual needs of a child/young person.
  • Experience in involving service users as active partners in the delivery and/or design of services.
  • Experience of engagement in service development and quality improvement.
  • Experience of using data to improve services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Specialist skill in the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, highly complex, technical, and/or clinically sensitive information to children/young people and families, carers, and other professional colleagues, both within and outside the service, adapting your approach according to the individual needs of the audience.
  • Ability to integrate complex clinical information into a coherent formulation.
  • Ability to work as an autonomous professional, taking on responsibility, making decisions under pressure, and seeking support as appropriate.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and report on information and key data relating to the team's performance, capacity, or activity.
  • Ability to plan and complete operational leadership tasks as directed and within reasonable timescales.
  • Ability to develop and implement systems to manage capacity and demand - patient flow, staff workloads.
Qualifications
  • A professional mental health qualification, such as RMN, Social Work Degree, BSc/Diploma in OT, or equivalent.
  • Additional specialist training and qualification to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent in supervision and/or leadership skills.
  • Professional registration/accreditation with a recognized body, such as NMC, HCPC, Social Work England, UKCP, BABCP.
  • Evidence of relevant CPD.
