Electrical Design Engineer - Job Overview:

Melbreck Technical Recruitment is seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our client's technical team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for special purpose machinery.

Electrical Design Engineer - Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and develop electrical control panel layouts, schematic drawings, and component specifications using Eplan Pro Panel.
  2. Source and specify components, consumables, and hardware in conjunction with the purchasing and software departments to meet project requirements and cost targets.
  3. Collaborate with the software department to select PLC/HMI systems.
  4. Support the spares/service department with sourcing parts for customers and technical queries.
  5. Work with customer-provided specifications (URS) when required.
  6. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, such as BS7671, IEC 60204, ISO 13849, UL508A, NFPA79, AS3000, etc.
  7. Implement and maintain product safety and compliance to relevant codes and standards.
  8. Provide technical advice on matters arising from sales enquiries.
  9. Offer technical support and guidance on product quality, test, inspection, and application, including reviewing and providing relevant documentation.
  10. Conduct technical design calculations and provide reports as required.
  11. Collaborate with the mechanical design department to package control systems within machine envelopes.
  12. Research and specify obsolete component replacements for existing machines in the field.
  13. Specify correct parameters for components as needed.
  14. Work with low-voltage single and three-phase AC systems, ranging from 110V to 600V.
  15. Work with extra-low-voltage DC systems, typically 24V.
Electrical Design Engineer - Requirements:
  1. Proven practical electrical wiring experience; mechanical experience is also beneficial.
  2. Previous electrical CAD experience specifically with E-plan Pro Panel.
  3. Experience with Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  4. Qualified to HNC/HND standard or above, preferably in an electrical engineering-related subject.
  5. Able to manage a dynamic workload and have a flexible approach to the role while maintaining excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  6. Experienced in reading and interpreting technical drawings and data in written/numerical form on electrical systems.
  7. Works well as an individual and effectively within a team.
  8. Seeks out opportunities for improvement while delivering solutions to diverse tasks/projects within demanding time, target cost, and quality requirements.
Electrical Design Engineer - Benefits:
  1. 8:30 am - 5:00 pm working hours.
  2. Pension scheme.
  3. 22 days annual leave, plus 8 days bank holidays.
  4. Holiday allowance increases with time served.
