About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join our client, a civils subcontractor based in Teesside. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating costs, managing budgets, and ensuring financial control of construction projects from inception through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender documents for construction projects, including labour, materials, and equipment.
  2. Budget Management: Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and aligned with project goals.
  3. Valuation: Conduct regular valuations of ongoing work, ensuring payments and valuations are processed in accordance with contractual terms.
  4. Contract Management: Review, prepare, and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with legal standards and project specifications.
  5. Risk Management: Identify potential financial and contractual risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment between cost estimates and project deliverables.
  7. Final Accounts: Prepare and manage final accounts, ensuring the timely and accurate settlement of all costs.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in quantity surveying or estimation in the construction industry.
  3. Skills: Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials. Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, or specialised quantity surveying software).
  4. Personal Qualities: Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
