Job Summary
This role is responsible for the procurement of goods and/or raw materials, supporting cost-down initiatives, payment terms, and supplier contracts. The successful candidate will ensure no delays to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure goods and/or raw materials, including order placement and follow-up, negotiating lead times with vendors, and resolving daily supplier issues.
- Expedite orders to ensure no delays to production, attending daily production shortage meetings.
- Review material quantities and dates required, determining accurate start and completion dates, and communicate any issues to management.
- Support and participate in business improvements, including Lean and 5S activities, as required.
- Plan and place material purchase orders to ensure material flow to the plant is in line with customer demand/company plan (MPS/MRP), using schedules, consignment stock, kanban, and other order systems as required.
- Investigate and approve supplier invoice issues.
- Actively manage supplier delivery performance through the use of KPIs and routine performance reviews with critical suppliers.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role.
Requirements
- CIPS certification or equivalent.
Work Arrangements
This role is fully site-based.
Key Competencies
- Experience of casting and machining, including managing subcontract machine shops.
- Proven materials management and purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- SAP experience.
- Experience of scheduling, MRP, MPS, and consignment stocking.
- Demonstrative proactive approach and initiative in problem-solving.
- Ability to communicate and interface diplomatically and effectively with all levels of the organization, external suppliers, etc.
- Able to work on own initiative and as a member of a small team.
