This position entails advocating for and facilitating transformation as we strive to integrate and solidify our continuity of care models into practice. You will collaborate closely with the Maternity Unit Matron to uphold exceptional standards of care and quality assurance. The successful candidates will demonstrate the necessary skills, confidence, and disposition to operate independently and manage a bustling Maternity Unit and Obstetric Theatres, providing expert clinical and managerial guidance to the multidisciplinary team during your shifts.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • NMC Registered Midwife
  • BSc in Midwifery
  • Evidence of professional development
  • Assessor/mentorship course or equivalent, including ALSO/NALS/MOET course

Desirable

  • Masters in Midwifery or evidence of working towards it
  • Professional Midwifery Advocate
  • Managerial/Leadership qualifications and/or experience

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

Essential

  • Awareness and understanding of current national and local midwifery issues.
  • Demonstrated desire to enhance standards.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management.
  • Understanding of team dynamics in midwifery.
  • Familiarity with change management processes.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Extensive post-registration experience.
  • Experience in both hospital and community settings.
  • Evidence of contributions to the development of midwifery practice or education and training.
  • Involvement in guideline and policy development, as well as clinical audits.

Desirable

  • Formal teaching experience in a classroom setting.
  • Experience in implementing change management initiatives.
  • Management experience with personnel.
