Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at a well-established life sciences organisation in the Edinburgh area. As a key member of our in-house engineering team, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance in a timely and efficient manner across various buildings, including offices, laboratories, and research facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties as a Maintenance Engineer will include:

  1. Performing pre-planned maintenance on Steam Boiler Plant & services, Heating & Ventilation services, Compressed Air systems, Water systems, and Building Services.
  2. Carrying out repairs to the above systems in a safe and timely manner to ensure minimal disruption to work.
  3. Maintaining accurate records of work done and time taken to track plant/equipment history.
  4. Providing technical support as the 'First Responder' when scientific equipment malfunctions.
  5. Liaising with users to schedule work and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  6. Generating Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures as required.
  7. Participating in an on-call rota with other engineers to provide 24/7 cover to the park.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A relevant SVQ or City Guilds qualification in an engineering discipline.
  2. At least 2 years' experience working in a maintenance environment, with a focus on heating and ventilation systems, PPM maintenance, and emergency repairs.
  3. Ability to work a standard Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional on-call shifts and overtime for call-outs.
