Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled English Language Development Instructor to join our team at Montgomery County Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and providing English language development instruction for students who have been identified as eligible for ELD services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement ELD instructional programs to meet the needs of Emergent Multilingual Learners (EML)
  • Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and other school staff to support EML students and their families
  • Provide professional development and support to teachers on ELD instructional strategies and best practices
  • Serve as a resource for information regarding EML students, cultural and linguistic differences, English language development, and the ELD instructional program
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members to ensure a smooth transition for EML students

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in TESOL, Education, or a related field
  • Maryland teacher certification in ESOL/ELD
  • Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors, and other school staff
  • Fluency in another language, in addition to English, preferred

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position working 10 months of the year. The successful candidate will be required to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of EML students and their families.
