Senior Psychiatric Consultant Job Overview

The Senior Psychiatric Consultant at our esteemed organization will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional clinical services to individuals within the community, particularly focusing on the Older Adult demographic. This position not only encompasses clinical responsibilities but also emphasizes the importance of enhancing the Older Adult team’s capabilities. Collaborating with various mental health units, the Senior Psychiatric Consultant will facilitate patient transitions and explore alternatives to hospitalization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and formulate management strategies for intricate cases
  • Oversee treatment-resistant and multifaceted clinical presentations
  • Evaluate and address diverse risks, including vulnerability, suicidal ideation, and overall health and safety
  • Work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
  • Direct clinical decision-making to guarantee superior care provision
  • Participate in service innovation and development initiatives
  • Offer clinical mentorship for trainees

Required Qualifications:

  • Essential: Medical Degree
  • Desirable: MRCPsych or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Royal College of Psychiatrists

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Essential: Registration with the Specialist Register, GMC Registration
  • Desirable: Approved Clinician status
