Position Overview
Are you a dedicated and highly skilled professional, passionate about ensuring individuals with Learning Disabilities and/or autism receive exceptional, individualized care?
We are seeking a remarkable individual to spearhead our mission to provide outstanding support for individuals with learning disabilities and autism within our specialized acute mental health service and outreach team in the South West region. This role is integral to the transformation of the care pathway, aimed at empowering individuals to thrive in their communities.
The newly designed unit will commence operations in the near future, and the successful candidate will be expected to blend direct patient care with clinical leadership responsibilities. In the interim, we invite you to play a pivotal role in shaping the clinical framework in collaboration with individuals who have lived experiences.
You will be supported by a large, proficient, multi-disciplinary team, working collectively to establish a center of excellence and deliver exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will provide direct interventions tailored to the needs of service users.
This includes conducting psychiatric evaluations, formulating diagnoses, and developing treatment plans to address both mental and, when necessary, physical health requirements.
The consultant will collaborate closely with the unit's extensive multi-disciplinary team, participating in both scheduled and informal meetings related to patient care and the effective operation of the unit and outreach team.
Additionally, the consultant will engage with colleagues across the trust, as well as professionals in primary care, secondary care, the third sector, and social services as needed.
The consultant will share the Responsible Clinician role for the unit's inpatients with the unit's Medical Psychiatric Assessment Consultant (MPAC).
The Consultant will also take on a clinical supervisory role.
