Key Responsibilities

As a Pipe Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for operating both conventional and CNC machinery to manufacture landing gear pipes. Your role will include:

  • Setting up and operating machinery for bending, swaging hydraulic fittings, and conducting pressure tests, ensuring adherence to production standards.
  • Providing support to the Landing Gear Assembly line as needed.
  • Demonstrating self-motivation and effective problem-solving skills to address production challenges.
  • Actively participating in initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and reducing production timelines.

Daily Tasks
  • Prepare and install necessary tools and testing equipment.
  • Load specified computer programs in accordance with production protocols.
  • Adjust production equipment settings to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Execute machine programs, conducting intermediate checks to maintain quality and compliance with geometric tolerances.
  • Inspect finished products for defects and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Document production data accurately in management files.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to safety and operational guidelines.
  • Propose enhancements to products and processes to improve efficiency and work conditions.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Understanding of pipe manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with assembly procedures and production testing.
  • General knowledge of fabrication techniques and machinery.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Awareness of Foreign Object Damage (FOD) risks.

  • Capability to perform self-inspections and dimensional checks.
  • Experience with NC machine programming is advantageous.

Work Schedule

This position requires flexibility to work on a rotating shift pattern, which includes:

  • Day shifts
  • Night shifts with premium pay
  • Bridging shifts with additional compensation
  • Weekend shifts with significant premium pay
