Position Overview

Vickerstock is seeking a Senior Engineering Leader to oversee operations within a manufacturing facility.

Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience.

Work Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday to Friday.

Role Summary

The successful candidate will report directly to the Plant Manager and will possess extensive knowledge and experience in the heavy manufacturing sector. A proven history of implementing effective manufacturing practices and lean methodologies is essential. This role encompasses the management of all mechanical and electrical maintenance, automation, site projects, and maintenance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of maintenance professionals, including fitters and electricians, to achieve optimal process efficiency.
  • Exhibit strong leadership and team management capabilities to enhance the performance of personnel and machinery.
  • Possess comprehensive expertise in asset management, reliability, and maintenance strategies, including planning and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ensure that the maintenance operations adhere to the required health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Plan and develop CMMS systems to maximize operational efficiency, including energy management and utility services.
  • Achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to downtime, uptime, preventive maintenance schedules, and workflow management.
  • Utilize CMMS for effective scheduling, inventory management, and procurement.
  • Implement best practices in process engineering and maintenance systems, incorporating innovative technologies and design standards.
  • Enhance the skills and capabilities of the maintenance team through performance reviews, training, and on-the-job coaching.
  • Manage maintenance and engineering costs, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Develop and implement lean maintenance systems to meet continuous improvement objectives critical to plant performance.
  • Collaborate with external contractors to ensure maintenance and project work meets established standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Engineering with a focus on mechanical and electrical disciplines or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years in maintenance or engineering management, preferably within heavy industry.
  • Familiarity with maintenance strategies such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to foster a safe working environment and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Skilled in simplifying processes to enhance efficiency and outcomes.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach, strong work ethic, and the ability to inspire others.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Motivated to exceed performance goals and encourage high standards in others.
  • Capable of making informed decisions and delegating responsibilities appropriately.
