Job Description

Our client, a leading commercial organization supporting the public sector, is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Lawyer to join their legal team. As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to shape the organization's long-term procurement strategies and contribute to the development of a commercial compliance framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and implementation of a commercial compliance framework that adheres to applicable legal rules and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, providing standards on processes and controls, in line with the Board's level of risk appetite.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Public Contract Regulations, horizon scanning for the organization, and ensuring that the category team operates to the highest standards.
  • Support the implementation of new standard procurement documents.
  • Support the development of effective and legally compliant category and sourcing strategies.
  • Represent the legal function at meetings of the Category Decision Forum and, where appropriate, the Category Management Forum, to ensure that decisions taken are informed by an assessment of legal risk.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience within a private practice or in-house environment practicing in a relevant area.
  • Extensive experience of procurement law.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving and an ability to engage with and involve a wide range of stakeholders and seniority across the whole of the supply chain.
  • A willingness to manage your own case load and respond to the demands of a fast-moving organization.

This is a hybrid opportunity requiring 2 days a week working from one of our offices and 3 days working from home. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package, including a performance bonus, 27 days' holiday plus bank holidays, a generous pension scheme, and a flexible benefits scheme.
