Job Title: Assistant Director - Waste Services

Join Brighton & Hove City Council as an Assistant Director - Waste Services and lead the operational day-to-day services of our Waste Management Team based at City Clean.

About the Role

This is a fast-paced role that requires someone with extensive experience and a proven track record in large-scale waste management operations. As Assistant Director - Waste Services, you will oversee the day-to-day operational management of the waste services, collaborate closely with senior politicians, and maintain a strong on-site presence to ensure the highest standards of service are met.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience in managing large waste management operations is essential.
  • Ability to work responsibly and collaboratively with senior political figures and stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a highly unionized environment, proactively addressing employee relations and industrial relations matters to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high operational standards in a fast-moving and specialized field.
