About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our team at Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of mental health services, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement evidence-based mental health interventions, working closely with patients, families, and carers to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including psychological and psychosocial evaluations, to inform treatment plans and interventions.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
  • Provide expert psychological advice and guidance to colleagues, patients, and families, promoting a culture of psychological awareness and understanding.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of mental health policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring they are evidence-based and effective.
  • Participate in service development activities, including quality improvement initiatives, to enhance the quality and accessibility of mental health services.
  • Engage in research and evaluation activities to inform practice and improve patient outcomes.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, promoting their professional development and contributing to the growth of our team.
Requirements
  • Professional mental health qualification (e.g., RMN, BSc/Diploma in OT, Chartered Clinical Psychologist).
  • Current registration with a professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC).
  • Trained and registered as an Approved Clinician.
  • Masters-level qualification in health/social care or demonstrable equivalent experience, supplemented by specialist training and/or experience to doctorate level or equivalent.
  • Independent and supplementary prescribing qualification.
  • Awareness of harassment, social exclusion issues, and the effects of person and institutional discrimination.
  • Knowledge/awareness of relevant legislation and guidance, including the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS), The Community Care Act (1990), and The Human Rights Act (1998).
  • Skills in assessing, planning, and evaluating mental health care/treatment interventions.
  • Expertise in psychosocial interventions, including relapse signatures and relapse prevention plans.
  • Skills in interacting therapeutically with patients who have a range of presenting problems.
  • Skills in co-ordinating complex care packages.
  • An ability to work independently and within a team.
Desirable Criteria
  • Advanced physical healthcare assessment qualification.
  • Therapeutic psychological interventions qualification.
  • Experience of working with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies.
