Position Overview

Role Objective:

  • To oversee the upkeep and repair of all machinery, vehicles, and equipment utilized on the golf course, collaborating closely with the Course Manager in line with the organization's Training and Health and Safety protocols.

Work Schedule & Compensation:

  • Annualized hours will be required across a 7-day workweek, including weekends.
  • Standard working hours are 40 hours per week.
  • Salary range is between £36,000 and £42,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct servicing of all equipment according to the manufacturer's guidelines to ensure reliability and safety.
  • Address equipment failures promptly and prioritize tasks based on course needs.
  • Regularly sharpen cutting units and mowing blades to promote plant health through superior cutting quality.
  • Manage fuel and oil supplies, ensuring accurate order fulfillment and inventory tracking.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all servicing and repairs performed.
  • Track budget expenditures and inventory on a monthly basis, working closely with the Course Manager.
  • Keep detailed logs of workshop maintenance, including servicing of lifting hoists and air compressors, and schedule service intervals as per contractual obligations.
  • Ensure the workshop is kept in a tidy state, cleaning work areas post-repair.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain fire extinguishers within the maintenance area.
  • Check and restock first aid supplies in the workshop as necessary.
  • Follow the established procedures for securing the compound.
  • Consistently adhere to the organization's Health and Safety Policies and procedures.
  • Perform any additional tasks as required to meet performance expectations.
  • Execute any reasonable requests from senior management.

Training & Development:

  • Identify training and development needs in collaboration with your line manager.
  • Stay updated on company systems and processes.

Interpersonal Relations:

  • Foster positive relationships with all colleagues and teams within the organization.
  • Build and maintain strong connections with clients and suppliers.
  • Encourage a pleasant and trustworthy work environment.
  • Provide guidance and support to temporary and casual staff as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

Preferred:

  • Prior experience as a Head Mechanic in a golf course setting.
  • City and Guilds qualifications or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Basic understanding of golf.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Toro Turf Care Mechanics Certification.

Required:

  • Demonstrated expertise in maintaining a variety of golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
  • Certification in the operation and maintenance of bed knife and reel grinders, reel mowers, diesel engine diagnostics, hydraulics, and safe use of abrasive wheels and oxy/acetylene equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 'C' or above.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
