Position Overview: We are seeking a committed Infrastructure Maintenance Specialist to become a vital part of our Capital Maintenance Team within the Strategic Infrastructure Directorate at Reed Engineering.

Role Responsibilities: As an Infrastructure Maintenance Specialist, your primary focus will be on essential maintenance operations, including patching, surface treatment, and resurfacing initiatives aimed at mitigating deterioration and prolonging the lifespan of our roadways and pedestrian pathways.

These operations are crucial for preventing degradation, enhancing road safety, and improving driving conditions for the community.

Key Duties:

  • Provide specialized knowledge in infrastructure capital maintenance, offering technical guidance and support throughout the planning, design, and execution phases of maintenance projects.
  • Evaluate roadway conditions, identify suitable maintenance strategies, and ensure that all projects are executed efficiently, within budgetary constraints, and in adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple intricate projects and delivery programs, including scheduling work, selecting appropriate materials and techniques for patching, surface treatment, and resurfacing, as well as overseeing the logistical elements of project execution.
  • Collaborate with various departments, contractors, and the public to ensure that maintenance activities are coordinated effectively, minimizing disruption to road users.

Qualifications:

A background in infrastructure maintenance principles and practices related to highway maintenance and programming, along with experience in project management, design, stakeholder engagement, budget oversight, contractor management, and strong communication skills, would be ideal for this position.

A competent professional in infrastructure engineering with a background in Construction, Engineering, Highways, or a related field is preferred.

Essential Skills:

  • Must possess a full UK driving license.
  • Identify and manage Health and Safety risks in both design and construction phases.
  • Assess and determine interventions in design approaches for a wide range of structural issues associated with infrastructure.
  • Ability to conduct level surveys and design vertical alignments.
  • Demonstrate organization across all stages of projects, including design, cost estimation, site investigation, and decision-making for structural maintenance interventions.
  • Working knowledge of the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works.
  • Awareness of Traffic Engineering projects in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Project and design management, organizational skills, budget management, and excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • An understanding of public sector procurement processes and regulations would be advantageous.

Communication Skills: An excellent communicator at all levels, capable of managing senior stakeholder relationships, engaging in customer and public-facing communication, and leading project teams effectively.

Basic proficiency in AutoCAD is required.

Work Arrangement: This is a permanent role with hybrid working options available.
