Deputy Ward Manager Job Description

Merco Medical Staffing Limited is seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse to fill the role of Deputy Ward Manager in our CAMHS Low Secure Unit (LSU) in Cheadle, Stockport.

Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team as a Deputy Ward Manager. As a key member of the ward's nursing team, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality clinical care and ensuring effective risk management.

Responsibilities
  • Provide senior nursing leadership and support to the ward nursing team.
  • Assist with the management and supervision of staff.
  • Implement best practices and support service changes.
  • Lead in clinical decision-making and ensure care meets regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to the development of therapeutic interventions and multidisciplinary team (MDT) practices.
  • Support the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care in a secure, therapeutic setting.
Requirements
  • Active NMC registration and valid NMC PIN.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-registration experience, preferably in mental health or learning disabilities.
  • Clinical supervision experience (training is desirable).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead with compassion and confidence.
  • Computer literacy and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Shift Enhancements
  • Monday to Friday (22:00 – 06:30): 20% of hourly rate
  • Saturday (All day): 20% of hourly rate
  • Sunday (All day): 50% of hourly rate
  • Bank Holidays (All day): 50% of hourly rate
