Position Overview

The successful candidate will join a dedicated team responsible for delivering financial services within the organization. Throughout the training phase, the individual will rotate through various sections of the department, including Financial Accounts, Management Accounts, and Income & Costing.

Each segment will emphasize tasks that cultivate a foundational understanding of finance, particularly within the healthcare sector, while also fostering development in specific areas that enhance skill competencies.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounts

  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective measures.
  • Extract financial data from banking platforms, prepare daily reconciliations, and provide cash flow insights for treasury management.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of control accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of payments to tax authorities and pension agencies regarding Income Tax and National Insurance contributions.
  • Support the accounting processes for various charitable funds.
  • Actively engage in the preparation of the Annual Accounts, including reporting on year-end creditor balances as part of the Agreement of Balances process.

Credit Control

  • Aid the team in debt collection efforts, utilizing appropriate communication methods, including follow-up calls and written correspondence.

Accounts Payable

  • Manage the receipt and distribution of all incoming correspondence within the Finance Department.
  • Address and resolve inquiries from staff, suppliers, and clients.
  • Input and reconcile Accounts Payable supplier invoices within the Purchase Ordering System, collaborating with the Procurement department to rectify pricing discrepancies or unreceived goods.

Job Duties

Management Accounts

Assist the management accounts team in generating monthly budget reports, which include:

  • Oversight of specific budget allocations.
  • Preparation and processing of journal entries.
  • Conducting variance analyses.
  • Distribution of budget statements along with supporting documentation.
  • Liaising with budget holders for effective communication.

Participate in month-end reconciliations and contribute to central month-end tasks, including processing data feeds and resolving discrepancies.

Serve as the primary contact for assigned budget holders and support both weekly and monthly payroll processes, ensuring timely submission of necessary forms and verification of draft payslips.

Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and the presentation of management information, while liaising with third-party entities such as procurement.

Academic Qualifications

Required

  • University Degree (2nd year) with a minimum Merit.

Preferred

  • Distinction in relevant coursework.
  • Background in accounting.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
