Job Title: Principal Engineer Nuclear Safety Case

Location: Flexible working with occasional travel to Barrow-in-Furness when required

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer Nuclear Safety Case to join our team. As a key member of our Site Safety team, you will be responsible for deterministic nuclear safety assessment, authoring of nuclear safety cases, and ALARP assessments of new and legacy facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement deterministic nuclear safety assessments for the build and commission of Dreadnought and future class submarines
  • Author and maintain nuclear safety cases, including results of deterministic and probabilistic analyses
  • Conduct ALARP assessments of new and legacy facilities and equipment
  • Define, agree, and implement safety case requirements
  • Manage internal and external interfaces, including Engineering Authorities, Human Factors, and regulatory bodies
Requirements:
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline (engineering or physical sciences)
  • Previous experience in safety analysis and safety case production for high-hazard industries
  • Chartered engineer (or actively working towards this) desirable
  • Previous experience working for a nuclear site and/or on the submarine programme
