About the Role

Job Title: Principal Engineer - Nuclear Safety Specialist

Location: Flexible working with occasional travel to Barrow-in-Furness

Salary: Competitive

About the Job:

  • Conduct deterministic nuclear safety assessments for the build and commission of Dreadnought and future class submarines
  • Author nuclear safety cases, including deterministic and probabilistic analyses of submarine build and commission activities
  • Perform ALARP assessments of new and legacy facilities and equipment
  • Define, agree, and implement safety case requirements
  • Manage internal and external interfaces, including Engineering Authorities, Human Factors, and regulatory bodies

Your Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline (engineering or physical sciences)
  • Previous experience in safety analysis and safety case production for high-hazard industries

Desirable

  • Chartered engineer (or actively working toward this) desirable
  • Previous experience working for a nuclear site and/or on the submarine programme
  • Relevant nuclear and/or safety degree programmes at universities such as Heriot-Watt, Aberdeen, Cranfield, Strathclyde, Manchester, Liverpool, and Birmingham

About the Team:

The site safety case team is around 30 strong and is growing and developing as we undertake the Dreadnought and Site Redevelopment Programmes. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
