Position Overview

We invite you to become a vital member of our multidisciplinary team within the Intensive Care Units at our esteemed healthcare facilities.

This role encompasses collaboration with junior medical staff, including trainees from various medical disciplines. You will gain invaluable clinical exposure to a diverse range of cases, including but not limited to, neurological conditions, trauma, gastrointestinal issues, and renal complications, alongside a general ICU patient mix.

We encourage applications from experienced Clinical Fellows, and the position is open to professionals in intensive care, anaesthesia, emergency medicine, or internal medicine.

Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of experience in intensive care medicine or anaesthesia, with proven airway management skills being essential.

Key Responsibilities

Our Intensive Care Unit is a dynamic tertiary referral center with a capacity of up to 40 beds, addressing a wide array of medical needs including respiratory care, surgical interventions, and specialized services in neurosciences and renal care. The recent expansion of our facilities is anticipated to further enhance our capacity in trauma and surgical care.

Our district general hospital plays a crucial role in serving a large community, featuring a busy Emergency Department and offering comprehensive inpatient care across multiple specialties. The ICU is equipped to provide both resuscitation and stabilization for critically ill patients.

We have a strong track record of supporting fellows in achieving higher professional qualifications and securing substantive positions. We are also committed to assisting international graduates in their journey towards obtaining a CESR in Intensive Care Medicine. Opportunities for skill development and accreditation in specialized areas, including echocardiography and quality improvement, are available.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • UK graduate or eligible to work within 6 months of application
  • GMC registration or expected within 3 months of application

Desirable

  • Fellowship qualifications such as FFICM or FRCA
  • Completion of a Master's degree in Intensive Care Medicine

Required Skills and Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years of experience in Intensive Care Medicine or anaesthesia
  • Advanced Life Support certification
  • Demonstrated airway management competence
  • Proven ability to perform central line insertions independently

Desirable

  • Strong dedication to a career in Intensive Care Medicine
  • Evidence of formal teaching experience
  • ATLS/ETC or similar qualifications
