Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity is available for a band 6 dietitian to become a part of the renal nutrition team within a prominent healthcare institution. This role offers a chance to engage in comprehensive aspects of renal health, including inpatient care, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, conservative management, outpatient consultations, and transplantation, serving a diverse population.

This position is ideal for a seasoned band 5 or band 6 dietitian seeking to enhance their expertise. Previous experience in renal nutrition is not a prerequisite, as this role comes with extensive support, including a thorough induction and training program designed to ensure proficiency in all facets of renal dietary management.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary renal nutrition team comprising various skill levels. The renal team plays a vital role within the larger nutrition department and actively participates in departmental initiatives, including staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training for students.

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrate outstanding communication abilities, a proactive mindset towards service enhancement, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a large team.

This role necessitates an innovative approach, contributing to service improvement and evaluation. You will receive support in achieving your personal development objectives, along with regular clinical supervision and peer collaboration. Daily interactions will occur with the multidisciplinary team.

Essential duties include:

  • Providing dietary services to renal inpatients and outpatients.
  • Gathering comprehensive medical, social, biochemical, and pharmacological data.
  • Conducting nutritional and dietary evaluations.
  • Formulating and agreeing on nutritional care plans through effective communication, always prioritizing patient-centered care.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals on care strategies.
  • Monitoring patient progress.
  • Delivering nutrition and dietary guidance to individuals and groups, ensuring that complex information is conveyed understandably.
  • Maintaining high standards in clinical documentation and written communication.
  • Utilizing counseling techniques to assess motivation and address barriers to dietary changes.
  • Coordinating with catering staff to guarantee the availability of appropriate meals and snacks for patients.
  • Participating in ward rounds, case discussions, and team meetings as required.
  • Supervising student dietitians.
  • Managing and prioritizing your caseload effectively.

About the Organization

The healthcare institution was established following the merger of two significant acute trusts, creating an opportunity to reorganize services to deliver optimal healthcare and enhance patient outcomes.

The organization serves a core population and provides a range of specialized services to a broader catchment area, ensuring high-quality care for all patients.

Professional Development

Engagement in continuous professional development is encouraged, with opportunities to participate in training programs and contribute to departmental activities, including audits and service evaluations.

All candidates are expected to adhere to national and local standards, best practices, and clinical guidelines while delivering dietetic services.

For those interested in advancing their careers in renal nutrition, this position offers a supportive environment for growth and development.
