About the Role
The Project Manager will deliver project management services for the company's battery energy storage portfolio. Initially, the Project Manager will take charge of overall project management and technical-commercial leadership during the construction phase of several energy storage projects utilizing cutting-edge battery technology. The Company has an extensive pipeline of energy storage and solar assets, and this role presents significant growth potential into areas such as development, procurement, financing, and asset management of solar and storage projects in the UK.
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience in the development and construction of renewable energy or battery storage projects, both from the owner and contractor perspectives, including time spent on-site. The candidate should be adept at providing overall leadership for contractors and stakeholders involved in the project while ensuring strict adherence to contractual obligations. Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage the construction of multiple energy storage projects, delivered by an EPC contractor or under a two-contract strategy.
- Ensure projects are constructed in accordance with planning, grid, and land lease obligations while managing other stakeholders.
- Maintain strict document control, verify design and quality control documentation, produce meeting minutes, and oversee contract and health & safety management.
- Oversee contract management.
Additional Responsibilities for the Right Candidate
- Conduct due diligence on projects received from the development team, including contributing to technical planning decisions.
- Engage in procurement and tendering processes, including supplier qualification, preparation of contract documentation, and negotiation.
- Support the financing of future projects, including managing due diligence processes and providing input on technical aspects of financial models.
- Develop strategies for business growth, including asset management strategies and plans for delivering solar/storage hybrid projects.
- Oversee the development of new solar assets in pre-planning and consented stages.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Degree educated or possess significant relevant experience, ideally in Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in project management within a renewable energy developer, contractor, or consultancy.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Experience in battery energy storage is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Background in development and construction is essential.
