Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our team at Retrack Personnel Holdings Limited. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the commissioning and automation of complex systems for our clients in the automotive test industry.

Key Responsibilities
  1. System Installation and Fault Finding: Conduct on-site inspections of electrical installations and perform fault finding as necessary to ensure seamless system operation.
  2. System Calibration and Setup: Calibrate and set up electronic data acquisition, electrical, and mechanical systems to meet client specifications.
  3. Automation and Control Loop Setup: Configure and tune standard automotive control loops, including PID tuning, to ensure optimal system performance.
  4. Software Configuration: Configure the CADET V14 software to suit client requirements, including setting up channels and interface components.
  5. Test Sequence Configuration: Configure test sequences within the CADET V14 automation software to meet client specifications.
  6. System Configuration and Development: Develop and modify system configurations and software to achieve desired functionality.
  7. Integration and Testing: Integrate 3rd party hardware, such as inverter drives, fuel systems, and safety systems, into test cells and facilities.
  8. Test Runs and Results Analysis: Perform test runs, gather results, and analyze data to ensure system performance meets client expectations.
  9. Automation Sequence Development: Develop automation sequences using standard CADET editor tools.
  10. Custom System Development: Create custom system functionality based on client requirements.
  11. Commissioning and Checks: Follow commissioning steps and checks to ensure system readiness for client use.
  12. Customer Support: Provide initial customer training in system operation and support client calibration, fault finding, and rectification visits.
  13. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with customers, commissioning managers, and site managers to achieve system functionality sign off and produce commissioning time schedules.
Requirements
  1. Self-Driven and Proactive: Possess good time management skills and a self-driven approach to work.
  2. Electrical Understanding: Have a good understanding of electrical principles and the ability to follow electrical drawings and diagnose issues.
  3. Engineering Qualification: Hold a degree in engineering or other relevant electrical qualification.
  4. Programming Skills: Possess basic understanding of programming or software development, ideally in C# or Visual Basic, and a willingness to develop industrial programming skills.
  5. Fault Finding Skills: Demonstrate good fault finding skills to apply engineering principles to real-life problems.
  6. Automotive Industry Knowledge: Have a basic understanding of the automotive industry, including engines, battery technology, and powertrains.

Location

The role is largely client site based, covering facilities UK-wide, with some overseas travel. Engineers will also visit our office to support internal departments, work on automation software, and pick up parts/equipment as necessary.
