Sharp Consultancy is acting as the exclusive partner for a rapidly expanding client in the North Sheffield region who is seeking a seasoned Financial Director to join their team and lead across finance, supporting the Managing Director and senior leadership team as the company embarks on the next stage of business growth and development.
Our client is a mid-sized enterprise with a turnover of less than £25 million, having successfully transitioned from a specialized engineering firm to a market leader with an international presence.
Due to recent successes and subsequent investment, as well as a strong cash position, the board has been able to establish a more dynamic growth strategy and will be looking to expand the business significantly over the next 2-3 years.
- You will be responsible for leading the finance function, overseeing a small team, and driving the development and growth of that team.
- You will be accountable for the monthly management accounts process, the annual financial year-end, and the year-end audit.
- You will lead external partnerships and be the key decision-maker for banking, insurance, compliance, investment, mergers and acquisitions, and research and development.
- You will create and develop robust accounting processes, with a focus on projects and financial analysis.
- You will work closely with the Managing Director/owner and lead senior-level discussions throughout the business, particularly developing strong finance ownership, including reviews and analysis to inform commercial decision-making.
- You must possess the ability to provide robust financial leadership with significant responsibility for performance and leadership of a growing SME.
- You will lead the development of wider growth strategies, including mergers and acquisitions and investment opportunities.
All applicants must be qualified, preferably chartered, with experience in a production, engineering, or manufacturing environment. It is essential to demonstrate a strong level of commercial leadership, with a clear understanding of management information and business improvements through effective finance processes.
You must possess strong management and coaching skills, be an excellent communicator, and lead with the required gravitas to drive the business at all levels.
