Overview of the Role
The Cardiology Services department is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Senior Nurse leader to take on the position of Matron for the Coronary Care and Acute Cardiology Ward (Firth 7), along with other specialized cardiology services. This department is equipped with 8 level 2 care beds in the coronary care unit and a 26-bed acute cardiology ward, which includes both level 2 and telemetry care beds, offering state-of-the-art facilities for the treatment of heart and lung conditions. Our multidisciplinary teams collaborate to deliver exceptional care to patients throughout the South Yorkshire and Humber region.
Strong leadership, clinical expertise, and management capabilities are crucial, as the successful candidate will work alongside the Executive Team and Lead Clinicians to provide visible guidance, fostering effective teamwork, patient-centered care, and outstanding clinical results.
Your primary responsibility will be to uphold clinical quality standards by offering inspirational and visible leadership to the nursing teams within the CCU and Acute Cardiology Ward (Firth 7), including Specialist Nurse Teams for Cardiac Arrhythmias and Inherited Cardiac Conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various professionals and support staff to establish multidisciplinary working arrangements within the service and across the Trust.
- Utilize sound judgment in evaluating complex patient issues, agreeing on solutions, and ensuring a safe and timely patient pathway for optimal care delivery.
- Lead the management of sensitive and challenging issues involving patients, their families, and staff.
- Investigate and respond to formal complaints, participating in initiatives that promote patient involvement and monitoring their effectiveness.
- Review incident management and audit data to ensure robust systems are in place that promote best practices.
- Assist in developing and maintaining effective healthcare governance systems at both the directorate level and across the Trust, ensuring compliance with national guidelines such as NPSA, NICE, and CQUIN. Regularly review risk assessments and conduct investigations following critical incidents.
- Participate in the Trust's out-of-hours Duty Matron arrangements.
- Collaborate with the Directorate management team to produce reports and information related to Urology Services and make necessary recommendations.
