Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Cardiothoracic Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and providing specialized programmes of nursing care to patients within the PCU, ensuring the highest standard and quality of care is delivered.

Main Responsibilities
  • To develop and implement individualized care plans for patients within the PCU.
  • To support the Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse in ensuring the highest standard and quality of nursing care is delivered.
  • To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve excellent patient outcomes.

This is a fixed-term contract for a maximum of twelve months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder.

Person Specification
  • Registered on part 1 of the NMC register.
  • Current NMC registration.
  • NTCCN ITU course or equivalent (completed or working towards).
  • Experience of caring for patients with cardiac/thoracic conditions, including in a level 2 facility.
  • Previous Band 6 experience.
Other Factors
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of patient care and the service.
  • Excellent role model for all Health Care professionals.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year pro-rata for part-time staff.
