About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Power Systems Design Engineer to join our team at Skilled Careers. As a leading multidisciplinary engineering design consultancy, we are committed to delivering sustainable design solutions in the mission-critical/data centre and energy transition sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations, and specifications using relevant technical software.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, drawings, schematics, and other design documents across different stages of project lifecycles.
  • Model complex networks and perform steady state studies (load-flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash), dynamic/transient simulation, and harmonic analysis to validate and verify developed design.
  • Run computer simulations, support design teams, and ensure the reliability and efficiency of power distribution systems.
Requirements
  • Hold a Degree in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Be a Chartered Engineer (or working towards) with a recognised industry body.
  • Have experience in an Electrical Engineering role within the power systems field, preferably in consultancy or an OEM/equipment vendor environment, delivering grid substation or renewable projects.
  • Proven ability to produce design documentation such as schematic diagrams, fault and discrimination studies, specifications, and project reports.
  • Experience in Substation Primary Design (FEED/Detailed), Substation Secondary Design (FEED/Detailed) or HV Plant Design (FEED/Detailed) at 33KV or above.
