About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Early Years Educator at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279). As a key member of our nursery team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality childcare and education to children aged 2 years and above.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside colleagues to create a safe and stimulating environment for children to play, learn, and develop.
  • Deliver an effective Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that supports children's interests and stage of development.
  • Participate in the nursery's daily routine, working within indoor and outdoor learning areas and the local community.
  • Engage children in creative and sensory play, promoting their cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Act as a 'Key Worker' to a small group of children, supporting and developing their care and educational needs.
  • Provide caring support and good communication with parents/carers and children, understanding and appreciating diversity.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Childcare qualification (NVQ Level 2 or 3)
  • Experience working with children under the age of 5 years
  • Experience working with young toddlers and babies
  • Experience with parent partnership working
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Knowledge of Early Years milestones
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
  • Understanding of diversity and equality practice for children, families, and staff
  • Awareness of health, hygiene, and safety procedures in the workplace

Desirable

  • Experience as a Key Worker to a group of children
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Experience working in other Early Years settings
  • Experience working with special educational needs and requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills
