Position Overview
We invite qualified medical professionals to consider the role of Lead Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This position is tailored for physicians seeking to enhance their expertise in comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynaecology, functioning at a level comparable to an ST3+ trainee, while collaborating closely with senior consultants and a diverse healthcare team. The role is structured to provide the successful candidate with significant exposure in a specialized field of their choice, within dynamic tertiary and secondary healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
The Lead Consultant will participate in the Tier 2 on-call schedule, assuming responsibilities akin to those of an ST3+ trainee. Supervision will be provided by a senior consultant. It is essential for the Lead Consultant to acknowledge the roles of other team members within a multidisciplinary framework and to engage in effective communication with them.
The weekly schedule will be flexible, adapting to the rolling rota of night shifts. It may encompass sessions in antenatal clinics, delivery suites, outpatient gynaecology, surgical theatres, and emergency gynaecology assessment units, or other specialized areas, depending on the specific job descriptions.

Essential Qualifications
- GMC registration
- Completion of RCOG Specialty Training year 2 (or equivalent training)
- Medical Degree
- Basic Life Support certification within the past year
- Understanding of Audit/QI
- Experience working within the UK healthcare system
- MRCOG part 1
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
