Procurement Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join our Strategic Procurement Delivery team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading multiple procurement projects for our NHS customers, developing and implementing procurement strategies, and providing high-quality customer-focused procurement and service design advice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead procurement projects, including scoping, pre-tendering activities, tendering, selection, evaluation, moderation, and contract negotiation.
  • Provide procurement and service design advice to external customers, supporting the team in delivery of projects.
  • Craft and maintain positive, collaborative, and supportive professional relationships with internal collaborators and external customers.
  • Generate opportunities for future work through the development of professional networks of contacts across the NHS and wider public sector.
  • Horizon scan to identify development and new opportunities for new and existing customers.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in procurement, commissioning, and contract management teams within the public sector.
  • Procurement process experience, including tendering and contract negotiation.
  • Experience in procurement activity, preferably in the public sector, working on and running tendering projects and framework call-offs.
  • Validated analytical skills, including analysis of information, interpreting, and communicating findings.
  • Working experience with internal and external collaborators of various levels.
  • Knowledge of public sector/NHS procurement processes and legal regulations.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Professional qualification in procurement (such as MCIPS) or related subject area (contract management, supply chain, funding, etc.).
  • Knowledge of procurement ERP systems, eSourcing tools, and MS Office.
  • Awareness of procurement compliance to instruct wider teams/clients.
