About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Environment team as an Environmental Sustainability Specialist. This is a new position specifically created for a student undertaking a 12-month placement, who will contribute to implementing AWE's Environmental Management System and driving continuous environmental improvements across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake environmental risk assessments to identify appropriate control measures and ensure compliance with Environmental Permit conditions.
  • Drive environmental improvements through the delivery of AWE's Environmental Sustainability Strategy and annual improvement plan.
  • Work across the whole project lifecycle, including the design of new facilities, large modifications of existing facilities, and core production and research facilities.
  • Develop an understanding of AWE's Environmental Management System and gain practical experience of implementation in operational areas.
  • Gain experience of Environmental Risk Assessment and risk-based inspections in line with relevant legislation, industry standards, and AWE's policies, procedures, and guidance.
Requirements
  • Passion for environmental sustainability and a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or other STEM disciplines.
  • Growth Mindset, Curiosity, Innovation, Resilience, and Team Worker skills.
