About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Catastrophe Research Manager to join our team at Hiscox. As a key member of our research function, you will be responsible for leading the research agenda on climate change and natural catastrophe risks, ensuring delivery against regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on identifying emerging Nat Cat risks relevant to Hiscox and deliver strategies for managing those accumulations
  • Represent Hiscox at industry events and engage with regulators to shape future regulatory requirements
  • Deliver the Hiscox view of risk in this area, ensuring we remain within the catastrophe risk appetite, and educate the business units to ensure they underwrite within this
  • Present externally to potential investors and analysts, confidently articulating our research activity
  • Propose research agenda to senior management and build strong stakeholder relationships with the reinsurance research analytics team, Business Unit CUOs, and senior management
  • Represent the group research function internally to business units and risk committees, linking the science to business activity

Requirements

  • Good exposure management and catastrophe modelling knowledge
  • Exemplary research skills
  • A Degree or Masters in a related or scientific field, with a PhD desirable
  • Depth of knowledge of the risk landscape in which we operate from a natural catastrophe perspective
  • Ability to accurately identify emerging Nat Cat risks and utilise research to shape the related Hiscox view of risk
  • Excellent influencing, relationship building, and stakeholder management skills
