Job Description

Business Intelligence Analyst - Data Warehouse Build

A rapidly expanding business requires the establishment of a Business Intelligence function to ensure consistency in reporting and data definitions across the organization as it expands. The Business Intelligence Business Analyst will support the Business Intelligence team in developing its Business Intelligence business requirements gathering and elicitation process, create the artefacts needed to build the Business Intelligence solutions, and support the business and stakeholders for their Business Intelligence experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and Liaise with Business Stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts, and senior management to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  2. Hold Business Workshops and Stakeholder Analysis: Conduct business workshops and stakeholder analysis to gather requirements and understand business needs.
  3. Develop and Work with Existing Artefacts: Develop and work with existing artefacts to ensure all processes, business logic, transformation of logic, data definitions, and process mapping information is articulated in the Business Intelligence artefacts.
  4. Ensure Robust Governance: Ensure robust governance on all Business Intelligence documentation with security processes adhered to.
  5. Ensure Single Version of Truth: Ensure Business Intelligence documentation does not allow for multiple versions of the truth reporting within the business.
  6. Prepare As-Is and To-Be Gap Analysis: Prepare As-Is and To-Be gap analysis, create diagrams, and demonstrate benefits of the To-Be model.
  7. Work with Data Governance Team: Work closely with the data governance team to ensure data governance principles underpin all business processes, changes, and new requests.
  8. Ensure BI Requirements are Tracked: Ensure Business Intelligence requirements can be traced and tracked through the development process, and any changes are managed and reflected through all documentation.
  9. Legacy Report Consolidation: Ensure legacy report consolidation and governed decommissioning where appropriate.
  10. Work with BI Delivery Analysts: Work closely with Business Intelligence Delivery Analysts to ensure reports are used and remain fit for purpose.
  11. Constructively Challenge Stakeholder Requests: Constructively challenge stakeholder requests for Business Intelligence and make alternative recommendations.

Requirements:

  1. Experience in Requirements Gathering: Experience of requirements gathering for complete end-to-end Business Intelligence solution delivery.
  2. Experience in Data Warehouse Build: Experience of requirements gathering particularly for the data warehouse build.
  3. Ability to Interpret Data: Ability to interpret data to provide insight and direction based on findings.
  4. Logical Data Modeling: Experience of building logical data models is desired.
  5. BI Tools Knowledge: Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools, such as Qlik, SSRS, Business Objects is desired.
  6. Dimensional Modelling: Knowledge of Dimensional Modelling – Kimball methodology is desired.
  7. Business Process Understanding: Ability to rapidly understand business processes in detail.
  8. Education: Business/Numerical Honours degree or QBE or equivalent.
  9. Communication Skills: Effective communicator with good organisational and prioritising skills.
  10. Microsoft Office Skills: Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  11. Presentation Skills: Experience of presenting technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  12. BI Development Life Cycle: Good understanding of the Business Intelligence development life cycle.
