Job Title: Bid and Project Manager

Thales is seeking a highly skilled Bid and Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Land Communication business, you will be responsible for managing complex projects from contract award to final delivery, ensuring effective liaison with stakeholders and applying best practices to control risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide over-arching bid and project management leadership, specifically the project management of Land projects.
  • Support bid management activities to generate organic growth, shaping solutions, estimates, and offers, and managing the bid process.
  • Ensure effective project governance, including gate and stage processes, to ensure project, technical, procurement, and support processes are applied and effective in controlling risks.
  • Drive quality, cost, and delivery performance through close working with other functions.
  • Manage all project stakeholders, ensuring strong communications are established and maintained.
  • Ensure that members of the project team are actively managing risk and opportunities, and have a robust project management plan.
  • Ensure data integrity of all project information, including financials and schedule, using the Oracle and Primavera toolset.
  • Apply lessons learned management to all projects, capturing lessons learned on specific projects under your control.
Requirements:
  • Experience of successfully managing high-value projects (circa £50m+) in a complex, multidisciplinary, multi-site organization, within the defence sector.
  • Ability to successfully manage project teams, including coaching project managers.
  • Full business lifecycle management, including capture, qualification, developing capture plans, and winning strategies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of generic processes and techniques used to schedule project activities.
  • Comprehensive experience and understanding of the project management process, including change control, risk management, and information management.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to deal with customers, partners, suppliers, and other parts of the business.
