The Senior Health and Safety Consultant will spearhead initiatives aimed at achieving safe design solutions that minimize conventional safety risks to the lowest practicable level.
This role demands exceptional interpersonal abilities to gather, comprehend, prioritize, and fulfill complex requirements. The successful candidate will employ strategic thinking to enhance our comprehensive health and safety framework while ensuring compliance with UK legislation and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the formulation of new strategies and the revision of existing deployment plans.
- Oversee the management framework and establish requirements applicable throughout the design and execution of Rolls-Royce SMR nuclear power facilities.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety legislation throughout the design process to engineering teams.
- Support specialized safety evaluations and participate in Environment, Safety, Security, and Safeguards (E3S) Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) assessments.
- Engage with external stakeholders regarding health and safety matters and supply necessary documentation.
- Ensure continuous improvement through assurance and learning from past experiences.
- Foster a robust health and safety culture and promote excellence in health, safety, and environmental practices.
Knowledge of fluid dynamics, processes, hydraulics, or fluid transfer would be advantageous.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven experience in providing expert health and safety guidance across large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated capability in stakeholder engagement, including interaction with clients, regulators, and senior management.
- Strong technical writing skills and experience in preparing documentation and presentations for various stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of risk assessment methodologies and their appropriate application.
- Experience in developing and executing risk-based assurance activities to meet both internal and external standards.
