About the Role

The Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist will be responsible for developing and providing a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to individuals with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs. This role will sit within the Inpatient Adult Mental Health Service in Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will work with adults who have/experience Mental Health difficulties, Personality Disorder, Neurodiversity diagnoses & Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The role requires a high level of clinical and professional expertise to ensure the population benefits from a well-coordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective SLT service.

Main Responsibilities

The Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist will be responsible for:

  • Assessing, formulating, and managing a specialist clinical caseload, ensuring practice is in line with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists' Position Paper and Quality Guidelines.
  • Coordinating access to speech and language therapy for both Dysphagia and Communication referrals across 2 inpatient mental health hospital sites.
  • Developing and implementing the 5 Good Communication standards.
  • Representing the Speech and Language Therapy service at agreed forums as required.
  • Mentoring, supervising, and managing junior speech and language therapists, assistant speech and language therapists, and students (as required & appropriate).
