Position Overview

As an Intelligent Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our operations by visiting various sites throughout the day to perform tasks related to Smart Meters in both residential and commercial environments. This position involves non-technical work, utilizing a handheld device to execute tasks, and ensuring that all visit details are accurately recorded on a tablet for updating customer records. No live electrical work is involved, so prior technical qualifications are not necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adapt working hours flexibly to accommodate customer needs.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service in line with M Group standards.
  • Comply with stringent health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate with customers regarding arrival times.
  • Provide precise information and data through the tablet.
  • Uphold the MDS brand image consistently.
  • Identify and report health and safety risks appropriately.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested, such as conducting surveys or verifying customer information.
  • Meet and exceed performance targets while adhering to ISO 9002 procedures.
  • Be prepared to take on other responsibilities as new business opportunities arise.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Strong geographical knowledge of local areas.
  • Quick learner with the ability to grasp new tasks and opportunities.
  • Proficient in using handheld and 18v power tools.
  • Experience with hand tools.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and climb ladders while following health and safety protocols.
  • Self-motivated and organized, as this role involves working independently.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a meter reading position, particularly with smart meters.
  • Basic electrical knowledge, ideally supported by a recognized apprenticeship or similar qualification.
